Pack Projects: Environmental & Community

Used Batteries:
This project has been going on since 2003. The idea was generated after on of our Cubs presented his Nature project about used batteries and the damage done on the environment. So we embarked on this project and we 're proud to say that we are achieving good results.

     Batteries Collected:
     2003 - 38kgs
     2004 - 42kgs
2005 - trying to collect more than 50kgs!!

Used Stamps:

Collection of used stamps is going strong as well. This project was introduced late in 2002 and so far Cubs are collaborating greatly. These stamps are given for missionary purposes.

Adoption of 2 Trees:
Following correspondence with Foresta2000, stating that a forestation plan was in course we felt that we had to speak about it during a pack meeting.  We discussed this project in a Parliamentary Environment where we split the pack in two, those in favour and those against. We did MEPA's work by assessing the impact this project will have on the environment.  Cubs were encouraged to come up with critisicm, action and solutions to this project. After an hour of debate, it was then agreed that our Pack should adopt one tree by collecting few cents from every cub. We managed to adopt two trees from the money collected. (See Certificate).
