| This
year's Easter Annual camp was held again at the Rinella
Scout Centre from 28th March till 2nd April. It was jam-packed
with activities, badge work and games.
For the pack, camping started on Monday
afternoon when at around 1600hrs Cubs arrived at the campsite
full of energy. However, Gold Arrowers were present in the
morning and helped their leaders to pitch tents as part
of their training. As soon as the whole group was present,
the GSL officially opened the camp and flag break took place
together with orders and rules for the camp. Afterwards,
Cubs were split into groups and they were sorted in camps
accordingly.
The program was split into 3 sub-camps.
We had Apukwa, Pukeena and Shaw-Shaw sub camps. Every sub-camp
had a different program to adhere by and different badges
were gained through out the week. Badges covered
were: Naturalist, Entertainer, Camper, Map Reader
and Craftsman. Different crafts were also
made. These were: Scene in a box, Sand Jars, Campsite Design
and Napkin Holders. We also tie-dyed shirts with different
colours for every sub-camp. Lectures tackled
during the week were: Knotting, Country & Highway Code,
Tracking Signs, Campsite Safety, Open Fire Cooking, Compass,
Pitching & Striking Tents and Map Orientation.
On Friday Campfire was held for parents
and friends. We spent two hours of singing, dancing and
joking. It was great fun. On the whole it was a very nice
and pleasant camp and we achieved a great deal of stuff!!.
Well Done to ALL!
