| Mother
and Child Camping 2005
Today I set down to write about my
experience in the ‘Mother and Child Camping’
we had recently at Rinella camp suite. First off all I thank
all the leaders for they made us exquisite dinners and I
can assure everyone that we never got hungry or thirsty.
The leaders had always something prepared
for us, such as lectures, games for all mothers and children,
and crafts which we did together as mother and child. We
began our weekend camping on Friday 24th. June evening where
every mother and child arrived at Rinella. First adventure
was during the night hike where Akela took us to see Fort
St. Angelo. Whilst we were enjoying the view of the three
cities from there when fire works started suddenly only
a few meters above our heads, so we had to make heed to
escape from danger.
We made two beautiful crafts which
I shall always remember, seeing both mother and child working
hand in hand. We had water games on Saturday afternoon which
it did never came to my mind how I was going to end up!
All soaked and dripping but it was great…great fun!
Akela wanted us to sing that night during the camp fire
but we were all too tired even for clapping hands.
For me it was my second time camping
at Rinella for a mother and child event but it was different
from the last one in November. Sleeping in camps is past
my days for when I laid down to sleep all my body ached,
but still it was an adventure for me. Till my son shall
be in the cubs section, I will still go for another adventure.
It ended on Sunday 26th. June were
I was glad to go home, sleep in my own bed, see my husband
and my eldest son again. But I know I had another experience
I would never forget. I had a relaxed weekend, no dishes
to wash and no dinner to prepare. Camping in November is
a bit different for we cannot play water games. Still looking
back I won’t forget what a headache we mothers were
for the leaders (to have us under control).
Again I thank Akela (who I guess is
the master mind behind it all) Chill, Shada, Gakala, Hati,
G.S.L. and Rama. If I forgot someone, many apologies. To
all the leaders thanks once again for everything, WELL DONE
and keep it up.
Looking forward for another ‘Mother
and Child Camping’ thanks from our hearts.
Marianne and Jeffrey Testa.
