Troop Section during Summer 2006
Summer for B’Buga troop was a very hectic three months. Apart from the
usual troop meetings, we had plenty of different activities and fun.
July started off with a three session First Aid Course by The Red Cross
Association, led by instructor Mr Kevin Gauci. Seventeen scouts
attended, learning skills such as recovery position, CPR, bandages and
slings, hypothermia, burns and scalds and choking. Practical sessions
complimented and helped our scouts to understand better these sessions.
They all obtained their ambulance badge and a certificate issued by The
Red Cross Association.

Once again this year on the 14th July, all scouts as well as
the link badge cubs took part in St Patrick’s Marathon, wherein they
acted as marshalls.
After a fortnight break, our troop organized a b.b.q. at our
headquarters, wherein each patrol prepared and brought all the necessary
equipment, bought and cooked the food for their patrol. This activity
was very well organized by the patrol members.

We finished off August by having a swimming activity, wherein fourteen
scouts worked and obtained their swimming badge. We had water games and
a lot of fun swimming in the rain, since during the activity we also had
some overhead showers!!!!

September is the yearly appointment for the South District Patrol
Leaders Camp. Six scouts, two junior leaders and one leader attended
this camp. As usual it was a great opportunity to meet and make new
friends with several scouts from the other south district groups. They
enjoyed being together: working on life-size pioneering projects, doing
the scavenger hunt as well as playing games.

On 18th September we had the Caritas voluntary youths at our
headquarters giving us some life skills concerning self-awareness and
our relationship with others. Our scouts all participated in
discussions on these subjects. We are now planning to do another
session on racism later on this year.
The closing of the summer activities was the Air show on 23/24th
September, wherein several members of our troop together with Yanika
Spiteri ASL, gave their services and helped out as marshalls. We would
like to thank those parents who volunteered the transport for our
scouts.
