Abseiling at Lapsi on 27th June 2007

Together with the Venture Unit, 16 scouts, and 3 leaders we went for an abseiling activity at Lapsi. We met at  Birzebbuga church square at 4:30pm and headed to Lapsi where we found VSL Ian waiting for us.

When we arrived the equipment was ready to be used. But, before beginning our activity, VSL Ian explained in detail the process about abseiling. He highlighted the importance that abseiling should never be undertaken alone and all safety precautions must be considered. The use of helmets is important as they help protect your head from bumps and falling rocks. A harness is used around the waist to secure the person going down. After this important introduction, we went down one by one in a safe way.

This was my first abseiling experience and I can say that I it enjoyed very much…so have the other scouts that were present on the day!
