After two years of hard work, it was time to officially open our new headquarters and the date was set for Sunday 28th May 2006.
The programme started with a mass at Birżebbuġa Parish Church, which was celebrated by Fr. Ġużepp Berry.
Afterwards, the band of Fgura Scout Group led the parade through several streets in Birżebbuġa to Master Gunner’s House
headquarters, limits of Bengħisa.
Our Group Scout Leader, Mr Jesmond Borg gave a short speech and Fr Nikola Pace,
the local parish priest blessed the headquarters and the plaque, commemorating this event.
Unfortunately, Mr Vince Cassar, Chief Scout was unable to attend since he was abroad.
On his behalf, three members presented the Group Scout Leader with a momento he sent for this occasion.
Other presentations were made by the two local band clubs, Mr & Mrs E. Busuttil (Assistant Cub Scout Leaders within our group)
and the group’s council on behalf of all the parents.
An olive tree was planted to mark the day. Afterwards a small reception was held, organized by the group’s council.
Present for this special occasion were: Mr Godwin D’Anastasi Chief Commissioner,
Dr Arthur Azzopardi Deputy Chief Commissioner, Mr Martin Bonnici South District Commissioner,
Mr Leslie Bonnici Programme & Training Commissioner, ex Birżebbuġa GSL’s Mr John Mizzi and Mr Anthony Xuereb,

local council members, ex Birżebbuġa scout leaders and members, group council members, section leaders and members from all sections, as well as their parents and several guests.
